We here at Monument Smiles are all on the same sheet of music when it comes to your oral health. We aim to keep you smiling confidently for years to come. Achieving this means using every tool at our disposal to diagnose potential problems before they progress to a point where the health of your teeth and gums becomes compromised.
To that end, we offer salivary diagnostic testing for periodontal disease called MyPerioPath through OralDNA Labs.
This testing is quick and simple to administer in our office during a routine dental exam, and the information it provides to Dr. Cheloha and our staff enables us to more accurately diagnose and effectively treat periodontal disease.
The test is done by swishing a sterile saline solution around in your mouth for 30 seconds. Then you spit the solution into a funneled collection tube. We cap the tube and send it to the laboratory for a complete analysis. This analysis identifies the type and amount of infective bacteria that have been shown to lead to periodontal disease.
Periodontal disease is most effectively treated when it is identified in its early stages. This testing helps us do just that.
Just because your parents have dentures, that doesn’t have to be an indicator of your own dental future. It is more possible than ever to keep your natural teeth for a lifetime when you maintain a schedule of routine dental exams, professional cleanings, and other preventive measures that may be recommended by Dr. Cheloha. We can help determine the best course of treatment for you by gathering the helpful information that is revealed through the MyPerioPath test.
Periodontal disease that goes untreated can lead to shifting and loose teeth, receding gums, eventual tooth loss, and even deterioration of the bones that support the teeth.
We invite you to call our Scottsbluff dentist office to schedule an appointment for this testing, and to visit the website of OralDNA Labs for more information.
